Spatial Simulation
in 2D and 3D
Schloss Bruck Retter
One focus of the project is on the practice of inventory-taking through the modelling of spatial configurations in selected Tyrolean castles. More specifically, this involves reconstructing their structural conditions during the period in which inventories were carried out. These models will ultimately enable simulations through which the specific process of inventorying in the historic buildings can be reconstructed. This work package is being carried out at IMAREAL.
Building on the availability of site-specific inventories, the current state of academic research – particularly in the field of building research – and up-to-date 2D floor plans, we proceed to create a 3D model. A particular challenge lies in the aim of depicting both confirmed and unconfirmed reconstruction variants. This is an important consideration not only when concealing later extensions, but also when reconstructing former building wings that no longer exist today. The incorporation of spatial information from the inventories plays a key role in this process.
We are planning to create 2D and 3D interior simulations for the following castles and palaces:
- Bruck (East Tyrol)
- Finstermünz und Hasegg (North Tyrol)
- Runkelstein und Tirol (South Tyrol)
Am Beispiel von Schloss Bruck (Lienz, Osttirol) kann anhand des Inventars von 1501 aus dem Tiroler Landesarchiv, Inventare 203/1 der Weg durch die Burg nachgezeichnet werden:
